Dairy

Welcome to agri benchmark dairy

agri benchmark dairy is based on a close co-operation with the European Dairy Farmers (EDF). This offers the possibility to base our international dairy-related analysis both on individual farms and on typical farms.

I. Analyzing individual farms (EDF approach)

EDF is a self-selecting association of future-oriented, above-average dairy farmers. Within the framework of EDF, farm-individual figures of more than 250 dairy farms from 16 European countries are analyzed year after year.

We are comparing farm-individual data on

The analysis is supported by the EDF-STAR network. In this network, dairy economists from well-known scientific and/or advisory institutions across Europe are working together (one institution per country). The work of EDF-STAR is coordinated by the agri benchmark team at vTI Braunschweig.

II. Analyzing typical farms (agri benchmark approach)

The agri benchmark dairy team will also analyze typical (virtual) dairy farms that are generated according to the agri benchmark standard operating procedure.

Compared to the individual farm concept, the typical farm concept has some important advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, for each problem we can choose the concept and the data set that is best appropriate to answer the respective questions.

The main advantages of the typical farm concept are:

In the near future, the typical farm concept will mainly be applied for the impact analysis of different milk policy options in Europe.
