New agri benchmark Network ...
Our partner Ashley Herbert successfully applied for funding to establish a national agri benchmark Network in Australia. The Grain Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) agreed to support our Australian Network for three years.

The GRDC is one of the world´s leading grains research organisations. Its responsibility focus on planning, investing in and overseeing research, development and extension in order to improve production, sustainibility and profitability across the Australian grains industry.
Congratulations
agri benchmark team member Simon Walther has successfully finished his PhD in Agricultural Economics. His PhD Thesis on "Determinants of competitiveness of agriholdings and independent farms in Ukrainian arable production" will be published soon.
New Project ...
The project "Typical agri benchmark farms and value chains: Exploring farming systems, farm and value chain economics, finance and market integration" will be funded by the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für international Zusammen- arbeit).
... with eight countries
This research will be based on the work of agri benchmark partners in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines as well as in Mozambique and Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria. It started in December 2013.

Key Challenge for South-East Asian Rice Production:
Perspectives for the agri benchmark Rice Network
This report by agri benchmark partner Ngoc Luan Nguyen summarizes the results of the first regional agri benchmark workshop on how the rice based system in mainland South-East Asian countries is currently developed. Contributions to the workshop particulary focus on structural changes in rice production.

The report identifies the main challenges and driving forces in the region including investment and policy trends. Based on this analysis, a strategic plan for setting up a series of typical farms is recommended.

agri benchmark Deutschland Workshop
On the 7th of January the fourth German agri benchmark Cash Crop workshop took place at the Thünen Institute (TI) in Braunschweig. During the meeting the actual developments in the network were discussed and presentations about sugar, rapeseed and potatoes were given.

Situation of agrarholdings in Ukraine: On the DW (Deutsche Welle) homepage an article about Ukrainian agrarholdings was published. Simon Walther was quoted in the article in the course of his dissertation. He has been examining the efficiency indicators of large agricultural operators and the best performing individual farmers of Ukraine.
