Key Challenge for South-East Asian Rice Production:
Perspectives for the agri benchmark Rice Network

This report by agri benchmark partner Ngoc Luan Nguyen summarizes the results of the first regional agri benchmark workshop on how the rice based system in mainland South-East Asian countries is currently developed. Contributions to the workshop particulary focus on structural changes in rice production.

The report identifies the main challenges and driving forces in the region including investment and policy trends. Based on this analysis, a strategic plan for setting up a series of typical farms is recommended.

| On the 7th of January the fourth German agri benchmark Cash Crop workshop took place at the Thünen Institute (TI) in Braunschweig. During the meeting the actual developments in the network were discussed and presentations about sugar, rapeseed and potatoes were given. |
