In 2018 the agri benchmark Cash Crop Network held its annual conference in China. It’s fascinating and fast-moving agricultural sector was a real eye opener to most of us. While most people would primarily associate China with small holder production, it appeared that the government is putting a lot of effort and resources to support the creation of large agricultural units under the headline of “collective farming”.
Furthermore in 2018, we were very happy to welcome new partners from India, Belgium, and Ireland in agri benchmark. For the first time we published an analysis on the economics of cassava production and processing in Thailand. We also made our analysis for improved rotations with regards to herbi-cide resistance and nutrient balances under German conditions publicly available. We also issued a report to the World Bank on the economics of Russian crop production from a global perspective and last, but not least, we managed a thesis on the economic potential of precision farming based on actual farm data.
