The system "Intensive Tillage" is applied by four typical farms. These farms are placed in France, Poland, Ukraine and Germany.
As an example for "Intensive Tillage" the german farm will be described in the following.

Intensive Tillage
- Shallow, one or more stubble breaking passes with
short-disc-harrow, disc-harrow or cultivator to activate
germination of combining losses and weeds
- Up-turning cultivation with plow, packer for re-compaction
commonly used, soil loosening and aeration, traditional
plowing turns under all crop stubble and leaves the surface
bare
- Seed bed preparation and seeding often in combination,
partial use of active driven soil preparation equipment
(rotary harrow)
- Application of total herbicides between the tillage passes
only in exceptional cases

Natural conditions
Temperate climate with high rainfall, no dry periods, most
rainfall during summer months (856mm), winter month
(nov. - mar.) with vegetative rest, danger of spring frosts
Primary crops
Winter wheat, sugar beet, canola,
other crops: barley, triticale, rye
Structural conditions
Family operated farms, specialized in cash crops,
the farm manager carries out key tasks himself; high level of
production
