International comparison of economics of tillage systems
Tillage systems and respective cost do differ significantly when moving from one location to another.
Therefore agri benchmark Cash Crop has developed a series of analysis and tools
in order to explore the differences. In this section you may find:
- A detailed description of three typical tillage systems
- A respective analysis of costs associated with these systems
- A cross country comparison of tillage cost
- A tool to individually analyze the effects of a variation of (1) wage rates, (2) fuel prices
and (3) exchange rates on the competitive position of the different tillage systems.
Therefore we selected 12 so called typical farms of the agri
benchmark Cash Crop Network.
On the basis of this typical farms in 9 different countries we identified the characteristics and costs of each tillage system. The cultures considered are
wheat and corn.
What´s the effect of changing costs
We highlight the characteristics and costs of the tillage system for each of the 12 typical farms.
Besides you have the opportunity to vary the costs of fuel and labour within a simulation for each farm.
As a result the effect on the total costs of the tillage system is calculated.
Simulation on farm level
Argentina versus Russia
Questions concerning international competition move many farmers. To gain insights into the competitiveness of different tillage systems and locations
we drew a comparison among the 12 typical farms. Here you can also use a simulation to study the
effects of varying costs on the international competitiveness of the farms and its tillage systems.
